Serving Up The Truth Women: Their Inequality Within Culinary Arts
* PUBLICATION
I have chosen to explore the experience women have in the culinary arts industry. In this field, there is a gender inequality towards women due to it becoming a male-dominant industry. In culinary arts, female chefs experience discrimination, harassment, act. This project aims to re-tell their stories through design by understanding what each women in the culinary arts industry faced and experienced while working with male chefs.

In society being a woman is perceived differently within the workforce. My goal is to demonstrate and express just how real and common this issue is within our society. "Serving Up The Truth" menu gathers stories from each woman's experiences that they have encountered in the patriarchal restaurant industry. Each section from the menu has a theme depending on what category it's located in.

The receipt identifies who said what from the menu, as well as their name, the restaurant they own or work at, and the experience they had. The total reflects the mistreatment that women face when working in the culinary arts industry. The total also refers to the consequences that can occur when people are exposed to such behaviors and environments that have an affect on a portion of their mental and physical well being.
